“For 30 years, you’ve been urged to slather on sunscreen before venturing outdoors on yourself and your children, only to discover that it stops you absorbing the most important of vitamins> vitamin D.

We now have for the first time in 100 years seen rickets return and many old people are absolutely petrified to go in the sun. Yet a little sun to an over 60yr old is probably the very best thing they can do for the longitude of life and health. ( I always remember reading about a cancer specialist who said he would rather wheel out a patient into the sun for a short time than give them the most potent cancer drug )… What does that say ?

As if that’s not enough, new data reveals chemicals in sunscreens are absorbed into the human body at levels high enough to raise concerns about potentially toxic effects to internal organs.

Bloodstream levels of sunscreen chemicals increased dramatically after tested subjects applied spray, lotion and cream for four days as directed on the label, according to the report.

The levels far exceed the set threshold which requires topical medications to undergo safety studies, said Dr. Kanade Shinkai, a dermatologist with the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.

“It’s not like they went a little bit over,” she said. “It’s really quite high, orders of magnitude higher than that.”

Of course, many of you know about using our plant oils instead and a day does not go by without another person saying that they are great – no reaction,( no burn if you follow our advice) and of course a neutralising of the main cause of skin ageing and skin cancer… free radical damage.

And only this month, this study has been confirmed in laboratory testing by Birmingham university, which we will be making a big announcement about shortly.

So if you still believe we may have some sun left to come, or are jetting off then see below for what you should be using and remember you can use it as a body oil after showering or a bath oil etc for keeping skin soft and anti-ageing.

One thing to remember the main source of skin damage is from UVA and that goes through umbrellas, hats, clothes, water and glass. whereas UVB the surface burn is shielded out by shade…. so you still need the oil on in the shade.” John Hamilton, Dermatology Expert
